Introduction

Emma is the most mature one written by the British writer Jane Austen in artistic ideology. There are a dozen of female characters in the book, while three maiden are the principle characters: Emma Woodhouse, Jane Fairfax and Harriet. These three girls all have the ideal gentle Beauties: dignified deportment, amiable looks, good character of generosity and integrity and the necessary enthusiasm. Emma cares for her family and friends full of tenderness, and Fairfax is so affectionate that she can tolerate almost any torture for her lover. Harriet Aitken is such an amorous girl who wholeheartedly falls in love with three men in a year.
