Introduction

The Importance of Being Earnest: Worthing ,a gentleman from the town, came to London City to visit Algernon, but his actual purpose of is the latter’s cousin Gwendolen. In order to visit Gwendolen, he made up a fictional London friend named Ernest. While Algernon showed special preference to the countryside girl Cecily who is under the guardianship of Worthing, so he came forward to help Worthing propose to the countryside girl Cecily. Even though Ernest (honest), this pseudonym has inexplicable attraction to the girl, but the outcast origin of Worthing make future mother-in-law refused. Algernon arrived at Worthing’s country residence before his coming back. Pretending be Ernest, he became acquainted with Cecily. soon Worthing and Mrs Gwendolen and her daughter arrived, so the virtual characters, "Mr. Ernest" eventually exposed, two men lost their heads at that time. But some old stories suddenly occurred to them, so the future of two pairs of lovers took a dramatic turn.
